The last thing that Harry Stowe's mother uttered to him on her deathbed was that he was actually adopted from a children 's shelter when he was three years old and that his birth mother's name was Sophia. Upon this revelation , Stowe commissioned Holmes and Watson to search for his bi巾mother. While looking for clues, Holmes and Watson discovered that the director of the children's shelter was killed on the same day that Stowe was given away for adoption.
