THE GREAT DETECTIVE SHERLOCK HOLMES #18 The Blanched Soldier

After returning home from the war in South Africa, a cavalryman named Dodd had lost touch with his army mate named Godfrey.  Dodd decided to pay a visit to Godfrey’s home in the countryside to look for his friend, but Godfrey’s father claimed dubiously that his son had gone on a trip around the world and refused to give more detail.  Just when Dodd was feeling at a loss, a blanched face with features that looked exactly like Godfrey’s suddenly appear then disappear before Dodd like a ghost!
When Holmes was asked to help with the investigation a few days later, he found out there was also another man missing besides Godfrey.  It turned out that Dodd had hired another private detective named Harp to look for Godfrey before coming to Holmes, but now Harp seemed to have vanished without a trace.  Sensing the emergency, Holmes and Watson asked Dodd to take them to Godfrey’s home right away.  When they arrived in the small countryside town, they were surprised to see two familiar faces had also come to the same town.  Not only would our great detective solve the mystery of the two related missing cases, he would also expose the convoluted entanglement of the good and the evil in human nature!
