In this book, author helps translators to capture the meaning and spirit of the original language without being bound to its linguistic structure by advocating the "Functional Equivalence Approach". And Jin further introduces his "Dynamic Equivalence Translation" to the Chinese translation community with reference to English and Chinese.
The expanded edition will be divided into 2 sections. Section I comprises the original 9 chapterswritten in the mid-80s, while Section II with 4-5 supplementary chapters that involve developments on some important issues in translation.
